Locations:

Harrogate, Pateley Bridge, Shap, or Keepershield Core Mission: The primary responsibility of the Asphalt Production Manager is to achieve established safety, cost, profit, quality, and service objectives through effective asphalt production management. Beyond achieving these targets, the role involves identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance operational performance and efficiency. This role is a critical leadership position, providing the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the organisation’s success while driving personal and professional growth within a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities: Safety and Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment, adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards. Proactively address risks and implement safety improvements. Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day asphalt production process to meet performance objectives. Identify and implement strategies to optimize production efficiency and reduce costs. Leadership and Team Development: Lead and motivate the production team to achieve company goals. Foster a positive and productive work environment where team members feel empowered to excel. Develop team skills and capabilities through Personal Action Plans, coaching, mentoring, and training initiatives. Communication: Clearly communicate performance expectations and business objectives to the team. Ensure alignment with company goals and maintain transparency in progress reporting. Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement in production processes, quality, and safety. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, identifying areas for development and innovation. Key accountabilities Develop, in conjunction with the Area Operations Manager annual profit plans and capital expenditure justifications Develop local operations plan to achieve required safety, profit, quality and service objectives Develop and implement operational targets in order to meet market, service and quality requirements Provide monthly operational cost and production forecast reflecting commercial needs Contribute to the area strategic plan and annual budget Assist and implement benchmarking to identify opportunities for performance improvement. Take responsibility for providing a safe working environment, ensuring no LTI occurrences. Take responsibility for managing performance issues such as operational productivity, cost control, service levels and product quality Assist in the development of monthly operational reports Review, analyse and identify achievements, shortfalls and areas for improvement against plan on a regular basis and implement corrective actions Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care. Provide leadership in a style that both drives the business to achieve its objectives and creates the conditions in which the team are well motivated and high performing. Communicate in a clear and effective manner, business expectations, including performance requirements and results. Develop the team, both individually and collectively, by agreeing Personal Action Plans and addressing these through delegation, coaching, mentoring and learning programmes. Be open and honest with colleagues, team members and the area team to ensure issues are addressed which impact on any aspects of the business. Where Asphalt operations co-habit a Heidelberg Materials Aggregates depot ensure the asphalt plant is operated in compliance with the IMS and complies with the requirements of the Regulation 8 appointee who will have ultimate statutory responsibility for the health and safety of the site. Ensure that the daily asphalt production programme is aligned to the sales delivery profile whilst delivering maximum efficiency through the mixing programme. Ensure that Entropy, IMS & LMS are fully applied and implemented.
