Aspiring Psychologist - Mental Health Youth Worker Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of children and young people? Do you have a passion for mental health? Then this might be the role for you! The Role: The successful Mental Health Youth Worker will assist and support students who struggle with their emotions and social behaviour. These students come from backgrounds where they have been exposed to adverse childhood experiences and have trauma, anxiety, and depression. They struggle especially with regulating and processing their emotions and managing their behaviour, creating a difficult time for them in school. The School: Look after students between the ages of 3 and 11, with identified social, emotional, and mental health needs. They are an outstanding school that prioritises the education and mental well-being of their students. They offer fun classes and have an amazing supportive environment. Day to Day: The successful Behaviour and Mental Health Support Assistant will spend their day helping the students with daily tasks. You will be supported by the class teacher and will also assist them with general class duties. This will include helping set up for lessons, clearing up afterwards, and helping manage classroom behaviour. This will be done on either a 1:1 basis or in a small group setting. You will be making a significant difference in these children's lives. The Candidate: The successful Mental Health Youth Worker will be proactive and patient. You must also be adaptable and thrive in fast-paced environments. Determination, confidence, and a passion for education and helping vulnerable children are essential. Previous experience working with children who present with challenging behaviour is ideal. However, attitude and personality are equally important, as you would be a role model for these children. Aspiring psychologists, therapists, and counsellors will benefit greatly from a role like this as you would be adding valuable experience to your skillset! Graduates are also encouraged to apply, as well as those with a background in sports, art, or drama.
