Aspiring Youth Justice Worker - High Wycombe This is an ideal role for Criminology and Psychology graduates looking to work as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in a specialist provision for children aged 7-19 who have experienced significant trauma and face social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The school focuses on holistic and restorative practices, fostering empathy and steering clear of punitive measures. Manual handling training is used only as a last resort. A practical trial day will take place in the school to ensure the role is suitable for you, depending on your availability to start ASAP, notice period, or university commitments. Your responsibilities will include: Making a positive impact on students' lives and ensuring their safety. Providing support and demonstrating the value of education. Receiving comprehensive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA training. Working with secondary-aged students (11-19) with EHCPs, including those with Autism, OCD, and varying levels of social anxiety. Engaging in physical work while facilitating academic progress tailored to each child's context. Managing some anti-social behavior as part of the role, with training and support provided by the school. Implementing various therapies and holistic processes, recognizing that even small progress is significant. Focusing on diverse cognitive abilities across all ages. Encouraging positive engagement and acceptance among students, utilizing varied approaches when traditional talking therapy may not be effective. Setting objectives for students and promoting independence, especially for those in assisted living. This role is essential in aiding society's most vulnerable children, and all necessary training will be provided by the school.
