Siemens has established the first UK-based Rail Industry Hub on the outskirts of Goole in the East Riding of Yorkshire. With an initial contract to assemble nearly 80 trains to service the Piccadilly line on the London Underground, we are starting to recruit over 300 skilled technical and support colleagues in our Manufacturing Facility.

Looking ahead, we anticipate substantial growth in our operations, with follow-on projects expected to increase the number of trains assembled into the hundreds. Moreover, we plan to expand our site to incorporate maintenance and overhaul activities, demonstrating our long-term commitment to the region and our dedication to encouraging employment and career opportunities.

We are looking for an Assembly Configuration Manager to join our Rolling Stock business in Goole. The successful candidate will be the UK Rolling Stock Manufacturing Subject Matter Expert, reporting directly to the Manufacturing Project Manager and liaising with the wider Manufacturing Config Management teams as well as Europe-wide and Site Engineering and Industrial Engineering teams.

You’ll make an impact by

Being responsible for ensuring that all Configuration Management requirements for the Goole Manufacturing facility are as accurate as possible and ensuring that any change activities are incorporated as required. Ensuring that all production documentation and management systems reflect the latest engineering and production standards. You will lead and report on any investigations and corrective actions taken and put in place recovery measures as required. You will show the capability to present data and reporting formats to a senior level audience within the business. Managing all deviations and variations, ensuring that any rectification activities are monitored to maintain the consistency of our product performance meeting the requirements of our customers. Comfortable to provide challenges to performance where appropriate within the manufacturing organisation. Having a direct impact on the safety and quality of our final product and its delivery to our customers on time. Establish and conduct periodic audits to verify assets and configuration control. Being experienced in leading other non-specialists through challenging and time-pressured recovery activities to achieve success. This role will be based on-site at our Goole Manufacturing Site with travel to our wider European Manufacturing Network.

Your success will be grounded by

Engineering or similar degree or extensive experience within the Config Management environment. Experience of working within the heavy manufacturing industry, where safety is the priority. SAP or similar ERP user. Experience of leading Configuration Management activities. Ability to create management tools and formats to coordinate and communicate configuration status.

It’ll be advantageous to have

Rail industry manufacturing experience. Final Assembly Configuration Management leadership. German language skills would be useful. High level Excel and PowerPoint user.
