About the Role We are seeking an Assistant Director of Finance who will be a game-changer in our finance function. This is not just another finance role – this is an opportunity to fundamentally reshape how we approach financial management. Your mission will be to develop a comprehensive accountability framework, provide strategic oversight of our significant capital programmes, and ensure we have robust financial governance that supports our ambitious growth plans, including complex initiatives like our Town Deal projects. About You We're looking for an aspiring S151 officer with a strong technical understanding of Local Government finance and the ability to challenge and support Strategic Directors. You'll be someone who thrives on creating improvement plans, has experience of working with politicians, and can operate confidently across a complex organisational landscape. Your technical expertise will be matched by your ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly and build trust with Elected Members and senior leaders. We want someone who can transform our traditional finance function to a dynamic, strategic partner that enables our organisational ambitions.
