Assistant Dairy Farm Manager Salary: £34,866 to £46,485 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. My client based in Nottingham is recruiting for an Assistant Dairy Farm Manager to join their innovative agricultural team. Located on our cutting-edge Dairy Research Farm, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future of sustainable farming practices, while supporting both academic research and practical farm management. As an Assistant Dairy Farm Manager, you will play a key role in the daily operations of our Dairy Research Farm. You will support the management of our dairy herd and assist with the integration of research projects that contribute to advancements in sustainable dairy production, animal welfare, and agricultural innovation. Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Dairy Farm Manager in overseeing all daily activities on the Dairy Research Farm, ensuring efficient and sustainable farm operations. Support the management of milking routines, feed plans, and monitoring of animal health and welfare, in line with research goals. Assist with farm-based research projects, contributing to data collection, analysis, and reporting under the guidance of academic staff and researchers. Collaborate with the research team on experiments related to animal nutrition, genetics, sustainability, and environmental impact. Supervise farm workers and students involved in farm-based learning, providing leadership and training in best practices. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining high standards of biosecurity and operational efficiency. Key Requirements:

A background in dairy farming, agricultural science, or a related field (preferred but not essential). Strong interest in agricultural research, animal welfare, and sustainable farming practices. Proven leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, researchers, and farm staff. Enthusiasm for new technologies and practices in the agricultural sector. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and manage the physical demands of farm work. Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach to farm management. Valid driver’s license; experience operating farm machinery is desirable (training can be provided). Due to the nature of the role, you will be expected to live in a house provided by the client and for which the rent is almost entirely subsidised by the farm.
