We are seeking a driven and experienced Assistant Finance Manager to join our dynamic team at Sheffield City Council. In this pivotal role, you will lead the charge in transforming our finance systems and processes, contributing to strategic initiatives that modernise and streamline our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain the Council's financial reporting solution using tools such as Excel, Power BI, and SQL databases. Improve and streamline financial processes and systems within the organisation. Draft and document procedures to ensure clarity and consistency. Utilise coding skills (e.g., VBA, SQL) to develop and enhance financial reporting solutions. Collaborate with various departments to understand and meet their financial reporting needs. Essential Criteria:

Extensive experience in finance, preferably within large, complex organisations, ideally a fully or part qualified accountant. Proven hands-on experience with finance systems and the underlying data. Proficiency in financial reporting using tools such as Excel, Power BI, and other systems. Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements, utilising various tools and methodologies. Skilled in drafting and documenting procedures. Proficient in using software and tools for solution development, such as VBA, SQL, or other coding languages such as Java or Python. Working Arrangement:

Hybrid / Flexible working (approx. 1-2 days on-site per week)

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement.
