We’re looking for a Payroll Assistant Manager to manage end-to-end payroll processing for diverse clients in sectors like retail, technology, agriculture, and more. This role includes supervising junior staff and managing client onboarding, making it perfect for those ready to take on a leadership role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee complete payroll cycles for multiple clients
  • Process BACs payments and manage payroll queries
  • Build strong client relationships through direct communication
  • Maintain strict payroll accuracy and deadline management
  • Guide and support junior team members (Assistant Manager level)

About You:

We’re seeking candidates with:

  • 2+ years of end-to-end payroll experience
  • Deep knowledge of payroll legislation (auto-enrolment, HMRC, statutory payments)
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and time management abilities
  • Confidence in client and third-party interactions
  • Full UK driving license and own transport


Bonus Qualifications:

  • CIPP certificate or foundation degree in payroll management
  • Background in UK practice or professional services
  • Familiarity with payroll software (Star/IRIS, Sage, HMRC Basic Tools)
  • Experience with BACs processing and client onboarding
