We now have exciting permanent opportunities for motivated and suitably qualified Assistant Project Managers to join our Technical Communities based in the South West of England. The Role

The Assistant Project Manager is to ensure delivery of all (or part of) the engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities for the life cycle of the contract or work package in accordance with the overall Project schedule. This post will ensure planning and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time and cost parameters to meet the needs of the Project.


Key Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Define the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme
  • Maintain effective communications with all stakeholders and executing the project or PEP strategies within their contract or package of work
  • Ensure the List of Deliverables (LOD) relating to the scope of work is delivered.
  • Assist in securing the required resources to meet their project requirements, ensuring the maintenance of SQEP for any assigned resource and promptly identifying any personnel shortfalls or issues within their project team
  • Develop, manage and update (with the project controls team) project and programme plans including full costing, development of WBSs, resource management, cost management of risk and critical path review, using appropriate software and tools.
  • Manage the change control as the project/programme scope changes, using the correct processes and updating the necessary configuration documentation.
  • Understand the need for project baseline control and different types of baseline change.
  • Apply the principles of Earned Value Management (EVM).



Essential or Desirable Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the below are essential:

  • Project management tools and techniques
  • Planning software e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project
  • Cost Software e.g. SAP
  • Risk Software e.g ARM (Risk, Opportunity and Trends), EcoSys (Changes), @risk (QCRA), Safran (QSRA)
  • English – written and verbal
  • Microsoft Office
