It's preserving the heritage of the past, while delivering its future. It’s working together to deliver exceptional projects. And it’s joining the dedicated team behind one of the world’s most iconic buildings. This is what makes working for the Royal Household unique. The Reservicing Programme at Buckingham Palace is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play a key role in the transformation of a historic landmark. Our dedicated team is responsible for ensuring the Palace remains operational while modernising its essential infrastructure for generations to come. Preserving the Palace’s historic integrity while facilitating its use as a modern working environment is at the heart of what we do. And your contribution will help safeguard this iconic building for future generations. The scale and complexity of the project presents fascinating and often unique challenges. You’ll be working on an estate that includes a diverse range of spaces, from State Rooms and offices to residential quarters, all maintained to the highest standards. As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll assist in the delivery of a diverse range of construction projects, ensuring that the Palace remains operational throughout the works. Key Responsibilities Assist Project Managers in all phases of the construction lifecycle, from design and pre-construction through commissioning and handover, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high standards. Evaluate project performance, prepare progress reports, and ensure alignment with established baselines for cost, time, and quality. Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and Royal Household teams to ensure smooth project execution and minimise disruption to operations. Ensure projects adhere to health and safety regulations, statutory requirements, and historic preservation guidelines while promoting a culture of risk awareness. Support budget management, procurement, and change control processes to ensure projects deliver value for money and remain financially compliant. Work closely with logistics and operations teams to manage the impact of works on daily activities, maintain security, and ensure successful integration of completed projects into operational use. About you Essential criteria: With experience supporting property projects or construction works, ideally within historic or listed buildings, you will be adept at balancing competing priorities, ensuring projects remain on track and within budget. You will hold an appropriate level of CSCS card and have a strong awareness of health and safety regulations and training in areas such as asbestos and CDM regulations. IT literate, you’ll have a good working knowledge of MS Office and, ideally, programme management software such as Aconex. You will be a natural communicator and skilled at building strong relationships with stakeholders, contractors, and consultants, ensuring collaborative working across teams. Highly organised and calm under pressure, you’re a logical problem solver with a keen eye for detail. Working towards a relevant professional qualification in a construction-related discipline or membership of an associated Chartered Institute is highly desirable. We know that to deliver our best work; we need to feel at our best. That’s why at the Royal Household we offer a generous benefits package designed to support your wellbeing and life priorities. Enjoy 25 days annual leave, rising to 30 days (plus bank holidays) dependent on the length of time you have worked for us. Our excellent non-contributory pension plan (we’ll contribute 15% and you can contribute more if you wish) is highly valued by our employees, as is complimentary lunch on-site to keep you fuelled throughout the day. We also offer a range of leave options to support your life priorities, such as parental pay and leave and volunteering days, as well as benefits to support your physical and mental wellbeing. Other perks include 20% off at our Royal Collection Trust Shops and complimentary admission tickets across all our locations, along with many more exclusive employee discounts.
