We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Cost Manager/Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Nottingham. The team works with both Public and Private sector Clients on a variety of projects including Regeneration, Residential, Sport & Leisure, Education, Industrial, Manufacturing, and Commercial Developer schemes. As an Assistant Cost Manager in our Nottingham Cost Management team, your role will involve assisting cost and procurement management processes. You will be supported by senior team members to complete a wide spectrum of cost management tasks and exercises, with the aim of developing your cost management skills in readiness to sit your APC and secure MRICS status. Your role will involve assisting with, and learning to independently complete the following: Order of cost estimates and option studies. Cost plans. Cost-in-use studies. Tender documentation and managing the tender process, including designing tender marking schemes. Evaluation and reporting of tenders. Valuation of completed work and arranging for payments. Preparation and settlement of final accounts. Administration of construction contracts. Preparation of reports to customers. Additional responsibilities include: Enrolling on your APC pathway and working towards attaining membership to the RICS. As a Gleeds team member, you will have access to:

About You Who we’re looking for: Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills To be considered for this position, you will ideally have a foundational understanding, and the motivation to develop knowledge and experience in the following: Quantification of construction works and activities. Cost estimating. Cost planning. Value engineering. Procurement. Tendering. Post-contract cost control. Administration of different forms of construction contract. The successful candidate will already possess the following: Clear and effective communication skills - both oral and written. Methodical way of thinking and approach to work. Good organisation, problem solving and negotiating skills. Financial and numeracy management skills. Sound ICT skills, with a good level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work as part of a team. Qualifications An RICS accredited Bachelors or Masters degree, Higher National Diploma or Post Graduate Diploma in a Construction related subject, preferably Quantity Surveying.
