ROLE OBJECTIVE This role is integral to the promotion and influence of our Brand, the spa operation is the very essence of our brand and as such the role is a key part of our operation. We work in times of constant evolution and development; it is therefore an essential requirement that you remain knowledgeable in your specialist area and use this knowledge to support your team and ensure that the highest standards are met. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in ensuring the effective professional management of the daily operation of the Spa Department. Manage good staff/colleagues’ relationships within the department. Assist with training and development to ensure ultimate client care. Operate the Spa Department in a cost-effective manner in line with department budgets. Assist in managing Spa employees to achieve retail and treatment sales targets as set. Assist the management of the platinum service within the Spa Department. Carry out department inspections and report findings to the Spa Manager and Spa Director. Ensure procedures in the department support ultimate client care. Assessment and recruitment of required staff. Ensure all new staff receive a detailed department induction and company induction. Ensure the treatment desk is covered at all times. Ensure all departmental billing is carried out accurately and on time. Liaise with ‘Front of House’ to ensure correct billing. Distribute workload evenly among all staff. Ensure high standards of presentation and cleanliness are always maintained within the department. Ensure schedules are suitable and care is taken in the planning of guests' stays. Train all front-line staff in the standards and procedures required. Analyze complaints and carry out training when needed. TRAINING Provide comprehensive training to all therapists. Research, identify, develop, and train in new treatments to establish Champneys as a brand leader. Collaborate with the Head of Training to support business development. Identify training needs within the Spa Department. Provide regular reports to the Head of Training. Attend regular training meetings. Share knowledge, help colleagues, and promote good staff morale, respect, and support. Ensure brand standards are consistently met across the group. Set an example for all team members. HEALTH & SAFETY Ensure all members of staff are aware of actions to be taken in the event of a fire, ensuring safety of all equipment at all times. Be aware of any hazardous substances in use within your department; if they are notifiable substances, notify your General Manager/Maintenance Manager to ensure they are registered. Ensure that all members of staff are aware of all aspects of safety connected with their roles. Ensure that all members of staff are wearing protective clothing if necessary for a particular job or treatment. Ensure all members of staff are properly trained and qualified before performing any treatment/class. Support the overall responsibility for Health & Safety within the department, ensuring that the first-aid box within your department is maintained and stocked. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING Knowledge of all treatment procedures and products and the ability to adapt treatments to a client's needs. Knowledge of the team's skills and areas trained in to allocate work effectively. Knowledge of all Fire, Health and Safety Procedures, ensuring your team is also knowledgeable. QUALIFICATIONS Proven management and supervisory experience in a spa or retail environment. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and merchandising abilities. Proficient in sales management and customer service. Time management and organizational skills. Due to the nature of the business and its natural evolution, this list is not exhaustive. You will be required to carry out any reasonable task in line with the role that you are employed to carry out. Full-time position with every other weekend required.
