We’re looking for a dynamic and driven Assistant Tax Manager to join our small, collaborative tax team based at our Head Office in Nottinghamshire. In this role, you’ll work closely with our experienced Senior Manager and VAT Manager, gaining hands-on experience in corporate tax compliance, VAT compliance, analysis, and reporting. You’ll collaborate with internal departments, supporting audits and providing valuable insights to key stakeholders, ensuring that our tax processes run smoothly. But that’s not all—this role is about much more than just numbers! You’ll have the opportunity to take on exciting challenges such as process improvement initiatives, identifying technology solutions, and helping to shape our long-term tax strategy. Whether you're newly qualified (ATT/ACA/ACCA/CTA) or have in-house tax experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your knowledge and grow your career with the guidance of a dedicated mentor. Your Journey as an Assistant Tax Manager: Preparing corporate tax returns and tax provisions. Analysing data to maximise capital allowance claims. Supporting projects from a corporate tax, VAT and SDLT point-of-view. Verifying VAT data to ensure all transactions comply with current UK VAT regulations, maintaining precise and up-to-date records. Conducting detailed reviews of transactions, reconciling import VAT and customs duties against HMRC statements to ensure alignment and compliance. Collaborating with the VAT Manager to address and resolve VAT-related queries from internal teams and external stakeholders, providing expert advice and guidance. Assisting in reviewing, refining, and enhancing existing systems and processes to improve the accuracy and efficiency of tax reporting. Supporting the payroll and reward teams with PAYE/NIC expertise on one-off or unusual situations. Identifying opportunities to implement cutting-edge, technology-driven solutions that mitigate tax risks and streamline tax processes. Are You Ready to Embrace the Challenge? We’re looking for someone who has: Qualifications in ATT/ACA/ACCA/CTA or 2-3 years of in-house tax experience. Proven experience in preparing corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK rules. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and manage deadlines efficiently. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to explain complex tax matters to non-finance colleagues in a clear and engaging manner. A genuine eagerness to learn and develop, with a foundational understanding of VAT and the willingness to expand your knowledge as part of the role. A proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement, streamlining processes, and enhancing reporting accuracy. Familiarity with tax technology solutions is a plus, or a strong interest in learning how to leverage technology for smarter tax management.
