About the Role: The Assistant Technical Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Technical Manager in overseeing and ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards across all manufacturing operations. This role is integral to maintaining the company's high standards through effective implementation of processes and procedures. General Responsibilities: Assist in the development and enhancement of the company’s technical function under the guidance of the Technical Manager. Contribute to the development and refinement of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems, aligning them with HACCP principles. Ensure compliance with company, customer standards, and regulatory requirements pertaining to food safety, legality, and authenticity. Assist in managing customer technical inquiries and interactions effectively. Participate in the timely resolution of audit findings and implementation of corrective actions. Assist in conducting root cause investigations and implementing preventive measures for non-conformities. Contribute to the trend analysis of microbiological data and implementation of corrective actions. Assist in managing technical KPIs and reporting metrics. Coordinate with third-party laboratories for product and material testing. Support in investigating trends related to complaints and taking corrective actions. Assist in reviewing and updating technical documentation, policies, and procedures. Contribute to ensuring traceability of raw materials and finished products in compliance with legal obligations. Support recruitment efforts for technical and hygiene roles as needed. Provide management and coaching to direct reports with clear individual development plans. Assist in advising on hygiene requirements for manufacturing, non-manufacturing, and external areas. Collaborate with the NPD team to ensure successful launch of NPD and EPD projects. Person Specification: We are seeking an individual who aligns deeply with the organization’s objectives and thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive advocate for our mission and values in all interactions, demonstrating excellent communication skills internally and externally. They should possess strong leadership abilities with a focus on motivating and developing team members. Essential Criteria: Previous experience in a Quality or Technical role within a modern food manufacturing business. Familiarity with BRCGS and experience in customer and other relevant audits. Degree level qualification in a food-related subject or equivalent technical experience. HACCP qualification. Understanding of current legislation relevant to food manufacturing and product labeling. Proficiency in food safety and quality systems management within a food manufacturing environment. Highly skilled user of Office 365 packages.
