You will have the opportunity to work with engineering teams to create detailed designs, plans, and specifications from concept to completion. You will support project managers by undertaking tasks on a wide range of projects. About You We are looking for someone who is a personable self-starter with the ability to project a positive ‘can do’ professional attitude at all times, maintaining good working relationships. Someone who enjoys working collaboratively across disciplines, establishing excellent working rapport within the team, business, and with clients, with the ability to work under pressure, handle a varied workload, and keep to tight deadlines whilst maintaining the highest level of technical excellence. In the role of Associate Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to: Design, manage, and supervise project delivery, establish client briefs, technical requirements, scope of works, cost plans, and agree deliverables (i.e., reports, specifications, and drawings scope for all projects within the group). Agree on the level of service, commensurate with the fee, with the Director for each project. Manage fee drawdown and assist the Director with invoicing. Assist the Group Leader in monitoring resource relative to each project's monthly allowable fee expenditure, defining monthly CAD requirements, and two-weekly engineering workload forecasts. Carry out engineering concept design to detailed design, tender, and contract on-site supervision, ensuring projects are undertaken in accordance with design briefs and that completion deadlines are achieved through frequent design reviews with engineers. Ensure all design projects and reports within the group are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard. Maintain regular ‘in-house’ design reviews and checks. Monitor contract staff or third-party appointments for the team. Maintain excellent client relationships and contacts to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business. Manage client expectations and promote a team approach. Pursue new business opportunities with existing clients and develop new business opportunities where appropriate and participate in company presentations. Motivate yourself and manage staff within the group to build coherent high-performing teams. Set objectives, monitor performance, coach, and develop staff to optimize their potential. Assist the Group Leader with identifying and implementing your personal training/CPD and development requirements. Monitor and control project progress, design variations, and project financial budgets. Implement management and administration systems (timesheets/expenses, etc.), coordinate holiday leave within the group. Implement and manage QA systems and procedures on all projects. Implement Company Health and Safety. Ensure all designs respond to the CDM regulations. Assist with Project Archiving at the end of a Project Completion. Accurately complete timesheets, assist with invoices and other reporting requirements, and submit in accordance with reporting formats and deadlines. Continuously adopt all Civil and Structural engineering rules and regulations, endeavoring to ensure protection of the Company's reputation and Professional Indemnity at all times. Preferred Skills and Experience BEng, MSc in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent subject. Incorporated Status in the chosen discipline preferred and ongoing pursuit of Chartered status and business qualifications if not already achieved. Minimum 7 years’ industry experience ideally working within a design consultancy (experience in the Data Center industry is highly desirable). Experience in designing and managing projects. Experience of monitoring contract staff or third-party appointments would be desirable. Able to undertake computer modeling, organize, and direct the production of CAD drawings, and correspond effectively with counterparts in other consultancies. Skills in project management on ongoing jobs with limited supervision are desirable. Competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. The ability to project a positive and professional attitude at all times. Good knowledge and use of appropriate project and design analysis software. Personable and a ‘can do’ attitude with resource management experience. Able to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and clients. Some leadership and people management skills and experience preferred. To be able to work as part of a team and collaboratively and cooperatively. Required Qualifications A minimum of 10 years design experience managing various civil/site design projects. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience with Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation, InRoads, and other civil engineering software as appropriate. Project Engineering and Project Management experience.
