The Role You will be joining an expanding team based in the new Advanced Research Centre on the University of Glasgow campus in the West End of Glasgow. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team that spans chemical synthesis, data science, software engineering, and laboratory operations. As an Associate Data Analyst, your expertise and focused contributions will be vital in managing and analysing complex datasets that drive our cutting-edge research. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining data pipelines, creating data visualisation tools, and ensuring data compliance. Your work will directly support Chemify's mission to digitize chemistry and accelerate the discovery and development of new molecules, drugs, and materials. Specifically, you will work on synchronising and cleaning data from various sources, developing WebApps for lab analytics, and creating dashboards for high-level visualisation of lab performance and costs. You will also collaborate closely with software engineers, chemists, and other stakeholders to ensure that data is accurately ingested, processed, and used to inform key decisions. You will work closely with team members from the software engineering, process engineering, and chemistry teams to contribute to the development of the most efficient, automated, and versatile chemical manufacturing laboratory in the world. Key Responsibilities Data Cleaning and Synchronising:

Detecting and correcting (or removing) corrupt or inaccurate data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and consistency. Data Analysis:

Assist in analysing data to inform decision-making, identify opportunities for process and platform improvement, and assess the viability of execution. Use data to drive efficiency and effectiveness. Analytics Hosting:

Develop and maintain watcher scripts and WebApps to automate data outputs and streamline lab operations. Create visualisation tools and dashboards that provide real-time insights into lab performance, resource allocation, and financial models. Quality Assurance:

Ensure data compliance and integrity by working with quality control teams and key stakeholders to identify and resolve data issues. Support the ingestion of data into databases, ensuring that data is structured and stored efficiently for downstream applications. Stakeholder Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data pipelines that support research and development activities. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including cheminformatics, software engineering, and lab operations, to integrate data-driven insights into Chemify's platform. Business Support:

Present data insights and recommendations to the Chemify executive team and other stakeholders. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related discipline. Familiarity with programming languages including Python and markup languages (XML). Problem-solving skills and ability to abstract and formalise problems. Enthusiasm to learn new approaches and concepts and to work with an experimental automation platform. Oral and written communication & presentation skills (English fluency). Some knowledge or experience in developing front-end and back-end WebApps. Understanding of databases, including experience with data ingestion and data compliance. Ability to work in a cross-functional team and collaborate with stakeholders from various disciplines, including cheminformatics, lab operations, and software engineering. Experience with version control tools such as Git. Strong analytical thinking skills and the ability to approach challenges methodically. Desired Skills & Attributes Knowledge or experience with cloud platforms like AWS for data processing and storage. Familiarity with data orchestration tools and data processing engines. Prior experience in a fast-paced startup environment. Knowledge of data security measures and compliance with regulations. Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and concepts, with a keen interest in chemistry and the scientific process.
