As St Elizabeth Hospice embarks on its transformative journey, we are seeking an Associate Director of Sustainable Estates to develop and implement a comprehensive estates and sustainability strategy that aligns with the hospice's overall mission and vision. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and as part of the Senior Management Team, this pivotal role will help shape the future of our estate, driving innovation and ensuring a sustainable and efficient operation. Working closely with senior leadership, you will oversee all aspects of the estate, including facilities management, capital projects, and sustainability initiatives, ensuring they align with our strategic objectives and deliver exceptional value. ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF SUSTAINABLE ESTATES REPORTS TO CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER BASED AT ST ELIZABETH HOSPICE JOB SUMMARY To provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the hospice's estate is maintained to the highest standards, ensuring safety, security, and compliance in line with statutory regulations. This role will be instrumental in developing and implementing a comprehensive estates strategy that aligns with the hospice's overall mission and vision. SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrate a commitment to keeping adults and young people safe. Report any disclosure made to you to the appropriate person. Report any safeguarding concerns in the workplace to the appropriate person. Maintain an awareness of the Hospice's policies in relation to safeguarding. RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement an innovative, future-focused strategic vision for the hospice's Estates function, ensuring it aligns with the hospice's long-term goals. Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to optimise soft facilities management. Embrace a forward-thinking approach to estate planning, anticipating the hospice's future challenges and opportunities and ensuring the organisation has the necessary resources and facilities to adapt and thrive in a dynamic healthcare environment. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, contractors, and suppliers. Drive the development, planning, and execution of capital projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Champion sustainable practices and initiatives hospice-wide, such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and environmental stewardship. Ensure the hospice's estates function is fully compliant with all relevant health and safety regulations, including fire safety, risk management, and emergency planning. Implement innovative technologies and practices to improve the sustainability of catering, domestic services, and grounds maintenance. Ensure the efficient and professional operation of the hospice's reception front desk, creating and fostering a culture of excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff. Accountable for the efficient allocation and utilisation of the Estates budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation to drive maximum organisational impact. GENERAL Where you are a member of a professional body you are required to conform to the professional standards set by that body. You are required to ensure your registration is current and practice continuous professional development. Because of the special nature of the hospice and its work, the post holder may on occasion be asked to undertake other duties to help maintain our high standard of care; to uphold the hospice values at all times. Experience in strategic leadership and oversight of estate management functions in a complex organisation. Proven track record of developing and implementing effective estate strategies aligned with organisational goals. Deep understanding of building regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental legislation. Strong knowledge of capital project management, including feasibility studies, procurement, and construction. Experience in leading and managing high-performing teams. Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders. Experience in managing budgets and financial resources effectively. Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly hospice or palliative care. Experience in sustainability management and green building initiatives.
