Permanent, Full time Location: This is a Hybrid Working role with a requirement to attend our London Farringdon office two/three days each week, with flexibility required in line with business needs. The work of Royal Mail’s economics team underpins business-critical insights and scenario-based forecasts that shape decisions and drive strategy and growth. The remit is broad and diverse, and requires engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, from core functions including field operations and financial planning to procurement and market forecasting. As an Associate Economics and Data Analyst, you will join the Economics and Statistical Forecasting team, which provides Royal Mail's leadership and various business units with a wide range of business-critical economic analysis and econometric forecasts. About the role Assist Royal Mail head of economic in collating and delivering macro-economic and econometric analysis to inform and assess business decisions and prepare short notes and reports for internal circulation. Manage large internal data sets using excel and other specialist econometric tools (e.g., EViews) and be able to accurately summarise the data and draw insights from it using a variety of techniques (including cleansing data, identifying appropriate graphics, and performing statistical and trend analysis). Support the senior economist with timely and accurate data analysis and be able to perform econometric analysis using specialist software. Communicate and present complex economic and econometric model results, forecasts and risk analysis and insights to internal and external senior stakeholders (Ofcom and external auditors). Support the senior and chief economist’s activities and objectives. About You To be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate the following qualifications and skills: Essential: You must hold a minimum of BSc in Economics or Econometrics. Essential: You must be highly numerate and enjoy working with large data sets. You will have experience of using one or more econometrics package (e.g. EVIEWS, STATA or other). You will be an excellent communicator and presenter with an ability to explain complex economic and statistical concepts to non-experts, internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. An MSc in Economics or Econometrics is desirable.
