We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientated Band 4 Associate Practitioner to join our Haematology Team. You will play a key role in the delivery of a high-quality Haematology Service, and the role will largely involve the management of the Medical Laboratory Assistants within Specimen Reception. This post will be based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. The post holder will be expected to be flexible and open to changes, to identify opportunities for improvement and to play an active role in developing, implementing and sustaining improvements to working practices. Main duties of the job

Prepare patient samples received in the Blood Science Department for analysis, including entering patient and associated testing details into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Assist in the analysis of patient samples, routine analyser maintenance procedures, quality control, and stock management. Manage the workload allocation within the support staff team, providing day-to-day management of band 3 staff. Maintain personal development and competency to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities, and assist with the development and training of other staff. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. About us

Level 4 Science qualification (e.g. HNC/HND in a science area) or equivalent knowledge and experience Suitable Qualifications in Information Technology Suitable Qualifications in Health and Safety First Aid Training Experience

Scientific background Experience working in a busy environment Experience of working in a laboratory Experience working with computerised data management systems Previous experience using TrakCare (WLIMS) Disclosure and Barring Service Check
