The Department of Computer Science at Durham University seeks to appoint a talented individual to the role of Associate Professor. This is a permanent position aimed at a researcher with expertise in decision-making processes related to climate, environmental, economic, and policy pathways. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work is supported by Digital Twin technologies (modelling, simulations, and infrastructure), applied AI, and uncertainty quantification. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the development of this new initiative, dedicating the first four years primarily to this work. They will benefit from a reduced teaching load and a startup travel budget to support high-quality research, grant applications, and initiatives to engage other staff in JusTN0W-related opportunities. After four years, the appointment will be reviewed based on grant income and may transition to a primarily research role or an Education and Research Track position with a standard teaching load. This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute significantly to the development of internationally excellent research and teaching while allowing for career progression in an exciting and progressive institution.
