Our Maritime Engineering team is growing and we’d like you to join us to help us broaden our research themes and expand our teaching activities. Have you a passion for Cleaner, Smarter and Safer Maritime Engineering? Do you apply your expertise in Maritime Engineering using new technologies, future ship design, digital futures or marine renewable energy? Are you interested in experiencing engagement and teaching delivery at an international campus? In particular, at the School’s Joint Education Institute with Harbin Engineering University (HEU) where you will spend at least one Semester per year. Can you share your knowledge with clarity and enthusiasm?

The Maritime Engineering program at the University of Southampton is a unique place to explore what you are capable of. Housed at the Bolderwood Innovation Campus, and equipped with the UK’s newest and largest University Towing Tank, we inspire hundreds of students every year to explore their strengths and open up a wealth of career opportunities.

Join us, and you’ll be able to shape a role that is uniquely tailored to your interests and lifestyle. For example, a member of our department was first appointed as a Lecturer in 2019. Within four years she was promoted to Associate Professor. She has developed new teaching at undergraduate level and won a prestigious Fellowship to open up new research avenues while also taking a period of maternity leave. She now leads a research team of 6 PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.

So we actively encourage and support our lecturers to pursue their research and other activity in their fields of interest.
