As an audio electronic design engineer within our York R+D centre, you’ll work with an existing dynamic product and design teams to bring innovative, market leading musical instruments and pro audio equipment to market. Covering a range of products from guitars and amps to digital pianos and drums, to PA, lighting and DJ equipment and even to home cinema, you’ll contribute towards the successful launch of cutting-edge products and continued development of the house brand’s catalogue. This is a new role to the team so you will be pivotal in developing its scope and success. Some daily roles and responsibilities may look like the below: Work with Gear4music’s R+D team and overseas manufactories on over 3500 products. Design and create schematics, PCBs and supporting documentation in accordance with concept briefs and ID designs. Evaluate and debug functionality and electronic safety of prototype products. Troubleshoot and improve existing products using new ideas, technologies and market trends. Work with the compliance team to evaluate troubleshoot product electrical safety matters. Your Skills and Experience: What We’re Looking For Whilst we have an idea in mind of what we need, we are inclusive, and we want applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences that can come together to make this new team into a success. Demonstratable experience in electronic audio product design, with the ability to use the latest electronics design software (eg Altium). Passion for musical instruments and pro audio equipment, with particular focus how they are built and function. Practical experience in navigating, analysing, building, and repairing PCBs and electronic products. Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to understand and complete multi-faceted tasks. Driven, forward thinking and motivated team player who brings solutions to tasks. Impeccable communication, organisational and presentation skills, preferably with experience working with overseas clients. Preferably knowledge of pan-European compliance directives (such as LVD, RED and EMC).
