About Us: We are a dedicated SEND school that provides a nurturing and supportive environment for students with autism and related communication needs. Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Autism Specialist Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience working with learners on the autism spectrum and be proficient in using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools, including iPads and other communication devices. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with autism, focusing on their unique strengths and needs. Utilise AAC tools and iPads to enhance communication and learning for students, ensuring that they have access to appropriate resources. Foster an inclusive and engaging classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic growth of all students. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and parents, to ensure holistic support for students. Provide training and support to staff on autism best practices and the effective use of AAC tools in the classroom. Qualifications and Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience working with learners with autism in a SEND or similar educational setting. Demonstrated expertise in using AAC tools and iPad communication applications to support learners. Relevant teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS) and specialisation in autism or SEND education. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, families, and colleagues. A commitment to professional development and staying current with best practices in autism education.
