Autism Support Worker Wanted in Loughborough!

Are you passionate about supporting children with Autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the patience, creativity, and resilience to help students thrive? If so, Aspire People want YOU! We are looking for dedicated Autism Support Workers and SEMH Teaching Assistants to join our partner schools across Loughborough.

The Role: We have a variety of full-time, part-time, short-term, long-term, and permanent opportunities available in specialist Autism & SEMH settings and mainstream schools. Your role will involve: Providing one-on-one support for students with Autism and SEMH needs Assisting in small intervention groups, focusing on emotional regulation and communication Using visual aids, structured routines, and sensory strategies to support learning Encouraging social interaction and promoting emotional well-being Creating a calm, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Understanding Autism - Key Skills & Qualities Needed: Strong communication skills - Ability to use clear, concise language and alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton) Patience & empathy - Understanding that every child's journey is unique Adaptability - Tailoring support to individual sensory and learning needs Resilience - Staying calm under pressure and handling challenges positively Creativity - Finding engaging ways to teach and support children's development Understanding of Autism-specific strategies - Knowledge of structured teaching methods like TEACCH is a plus!
