JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Auto Electrician / Vehicle Electrical Installation Engineer with a relevant electrical qualification, competence in the use of hand tools to include soldering and crimping, who has the ability to install low voltage and mains electrical systems.

As the Auto Electrician / Vehicle Electrical Installation Engineer you will carry out vehicle electrical installation work on a wide range of new HGV based Fire and Rescue Vehicles. The work will involve installation of low voltage systems including major control boards, fuse boxes and harnesses, as well as aftermarket work including CCTV systems, tyre pressure monitoring and VDS systems.

The Auto Electrician / Vehicle Electrical Installation Engineer will generally work a day shift role on a 2 week-shift pattern (no weekends). DUTIES Your duties as an Auto Electrician / Vehicle Electrical Installation Engineer will include: Installation of low voltage (12/24v) systems including major controls boards, fuse boxes and harnesses Installation of aftermarket systems including CCTV systems, tyre pressure monitoring and VDS systems Installation of Fire Service specialist equipment including LED lamps, light bars, siren systems and pump control panels Installation of mains electrical systems (240v) including chassis battery cables, battery charging and ‘jump start’ systems, auxiliary batteries and RCD/MCB circuits Installation of CANbus systems including controllers, control screens and telematics systems; a working knowledge of CAN is desirable following engineering drawings There may be occasions when you are required to work in other workshop departments Be aware of and adhere to the Company’s Health and Safety Policy CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS The ability to read and follow wiring schematics is essential. Ideally hold a relevant electrical qualification City & Guilds, NVQ. Previous experience in a similar environment would be an advantage but not essential. A working knowledge of CAN is desirable. Self-motivated. Be able to work as part of a team or independently as required. The ability to work to deadlines. Be competent to use hand tools, including soldering and crimping as part of the role.
