Our Auto Liability team is currently seeking a Litigation Adjuster for Worcester, MA - Glastonbury, CT and/or Richmond, VA. The Hanover Insurance Group has adopted a Hybrid work model that allows for 2 or 3 days of remote work each week with the balance of time being in the office to engage with peers and managers to continue to develop a strong culture. This is a full-time, exempt role. POSITION OVERVIEW: IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: Have or secure and maintain appropriate states adjuster license(s) and continuing education credits. Be responsible for the settlement of litigated cases, involving disputes over coverage, liability, and damages issues. Work in partnership with defense counsel and field adjusters to bring about a timely cost-effective conclusion. Handle claims that are transferred existing losses or first notice lawsuits, over disputed issues, which require a higher level of investigation, analysis, evaluation, and negotiation. Maintain a keen foresight into claims depth to accurately adjust reserves, based on new information, over the cycle time of an exposure. Develop timely cost-effective discovery, trial, and settlement resolution strategies, in conjunction with defense counsel, to minimize the costs associated with protracted litigation. Represent the company at trial, mediation, and arbitration. Act as a technical resource for inside and field adjusters. WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: Typically has 5-8 years of professional experience in Bodily Injury Litigated claims handling. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience. Dedication to delivering exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to negotiate skillfully in difficult situations with both internal and external groups. Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills. Promotes and facilitates free and open communication. Understanding of applicable statutes, regulations, and case law. Ability to think critically and anticipate, recognize, identify, and develop solutions to problems in a timely manner.
