Role Overview

My client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Draughtsman with experience in 2D and 3D design to support the design and development of machinery, facilities, and process layouts for their manufacturing plants. This role is essential to ensuring the efficiency, accuracy, and compliance of their engineering and production processes. You will work closely with project engineers, facility managers, and other key stakeholders to develop technical drawings and models that meet the highest industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Drafting: Create and modify 2D and 3D technical drawings for machinery, facility layouts, and production line designs, ensuring clarity, precision, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Collaborative Design: Work closely with project engineers and production teams to understand requirements, communicate design intent, and incorporate feedback to enhance functionality and manufacturability.
  • Software Expertise: Utilise AutoCAD (2D and 3D), Navisworks, AutoDesk, and SolidWorks to create accurate and detailed designs that comply with industry standards and company guidelines.
  • Mechanical Drawings: Produce detailed mechanical drawings for fabrication and assembly, including dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications, in line with industry best practices.
  • Model Integration: Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical, electrical, and structural elements into cohesive models for seamless operation within their manufacturing environments.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain organised records of designs, revisions, and approvals. Ensure that all drawings and designs adhere to relevant safety regulations, engineering standards, and project requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the improvement of design processes and workflows, utilising your knowledge of industry trends and advanced software tools to enhance project efficiency and accuracy.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
  • Experience: Experience as a Draughtsman in a manufacturing or industrial setting, ideally within the food, beverage, or FMCG industry.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2D & 3D), Navisworks, AutoDesk, and SolidWorks.
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and practical experience creating mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in drafting and a keen eye for detail, with the ability to identify and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think critically and provide innovative solutions to design challenges.
