37.5 hours per week, with Flexitime. Core hours

10:00 - 16:00; Monday - Thursday (office open 7:00 - 18:30) 10:00 - 12:00; Friday (office open 7:00 - 12:00)

Benefits If on customer sites, then site hours are discussed with customers and project managers on a per project basis. Location The role is office based, with some UK and overseas client site work (estimated at 20%). The company have just re-located to a new larger facility just off Junction 6 of the M5 this will be the primary place of work. There is the potential for some home working, agreed based on the projects being undertaken

Job description This role is for engineers who like the challenge of developing and implementing complex automation, mechatronic and data acquisition systems for turnkey projects. No two projects are the same and the engineer will find great job satisfaction in delivering solutions in cutting edge automotive and industrial environments. Candidates are expected to have a strong engineering background to aid in the design and fault finding of automated test systems, and a Windows based coding background (ideally C# or Visual Basic), allowing development of new code, and modification of existing code for bespoke customer applications.

Job Responsibilities Determining the best way to implement bespoke automation and control process for the application using the Company CADET (internal software) and DACS (Data Acquisition and Control System) from customer supplied requirements and specifications. Developing C# control software using the advanced CADET API to implement the solution. Knowledge of VB6/VBA is useful for supporting legacy systems Supporting customers with new and existing systems in person and remotely for fault finding and integrating new functionality Interfacing to 3rd party equipment for integration within the CADET environment, using C# language. Experience working with of protocols such as Ethernet, Serial, Ethercat, CAN, Profibus, AK protocol (over Ethernet/Serial) is useful Developing automation sequences using standard CADET editor tools Analysing engineering systems to advise the best methods of automation Analysing post-test diagnostics logs to advise fault rectifications (software, electrical and mechanical) within complex engineering systems Create test and acceptance procedures Creating custom system functionality based on customer requirements Site visits to customers for installing, testing and documenting the solution, within the UK and globally as required. Estimated at 20% customer site work Work with electrical design engineers to advise on requirements of new systems Work with Commissioning engineers and project/site managers to achieve sign off from the customer. Own initiative garage projects based on anticipated future requirements and enhancements of existing tools Providing information to the sales department for quotation purposes. Source code management via SourceTree, BitBucket and Jira Experience with PLC systems (particularly safety PLC systems) is useful, but not essential Potential to become project lead on various products

Suitable candidate Looking for a self-driven, proactive individual that has good time management skills Good understanding of C# and Visual Studio Engineering understanding of control & automation systems Ideally suited to a joint electrical and mechanical/robotic/Mechatronics/Automation engineering degree who has at least 3 years of experience in an electrical based automation role. Good understanding of automation hardware (sensors, actuators, inverters etc) Happy to work away from home during the working week as required (given suitable notice), with occasional overseas trips Good written and verbal communication skills Full UK driving licence Indefinite UK right to work
