Our team consists of highly-skilled cross-functional consultants, analysts, and support staff. The Role: Amber Labs is seeking an AWS Technical Architect to join the Artificial Intelligence team. This is a critical role in delivering and shaping cloud-based solutions, leveraging AWS technologies to support departmental objectives and ensure scalable, secure, and innovative infrastructure solutions. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and implementation of AWS cloud-based infrastructure and services within the Artificial Intelligence team. Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to ensure alignment with best practices, security standards, and organisational goals. Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and third-party vendors to deliver high-quality AWS solutions. Oversee the creation and documentation of cloud architecture designs, infrastructure roadmaps, and technical specifications. Identify opportunities for innovation and optimisation within existing cloud infrastructure. Ensure AWS solutions are cost-effective, scalable, secure, and compliant with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards. Support the development of cloud governance frameworks and maintain operational excellence. Provide mentorship and technical direction to teams implementing cloud solutions. Essential Requirements: Strong experience architecting solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS), including design, build, and deployment of cloud infrastructure. Demonstrated experience in delivering scalable and secure cloud-based architectures, including compute, storage, networking, and IAM. Experience in supporting cloud migration strategies and transitioning systems to AWS. A proven understanding of AWS best practices, tools, and services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, CloudFormation, etc.). Experience working with agile methodologies and delivering solutions within a collaborative environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to innovate and optimise solutions. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Desirable: AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional/Associate). Knowledge of Government Digital Service (GDS) principles and standards. Experience in working within a UK Government or public sector environment. Familiarity with other cloud platforms or multi-cloud solutions.
