Your Team
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary technology team, working closely with our customers (business, software vendors, and partners) and strategic project teams. The team is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Hollard Data Platform that supports our customers through all aspects of the insurance value chain. The team is involved in all aspects from design through to testing, implementation, maintenance, and support.
Your Role
As a Data Engineer, your key focus areas will be to design, build, and support the delivery of modern data engineering solutions in the Azure data platform, balancing the enhancement of ETL / ELT processes while supporting short-term data requirements from across the business. You will work closely with cross-functional teams within Hollard, including the Infrastructure DevOps team, solution architects, subject matter experts, data modelers, Finance, Underwriting, Operations, etc.
Your duties and responsibilities
Maintain, support, and monitor existing production Azure Synapse data engineering pipelines, PySpark notebooks, data platform lake house architecture, and Azure SQL ODS storage and Stored Procedures, CI / CD pipelines to ensure all data loads on the data platform meet data quality standards and business SLA requirements.
Participate and contribute to Azure data platform architecture design, data modelling, gathering, and analysis of data requirements; understand, document, communicate, and build appropriate solutions.
Contribute to the end-to-end data flow in the Azure data platform – ensuring data quality, efficient processing, and timely delivery of accurate and trusted data.
Design, build, deliver, and document data platform-related projects and activities with the latest Azure data analytics technologies.
Your knowledge and experience
Must have substantial experience in design, build, and support of data engineering pipelines in the data warehousing, BI analytics, and / or ML space , which includes demonstrated experience in using Azure data analytics tools such as Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, data lake gen2, key vault.
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in implementing modern lake house architecture on Azure Data Lake Gen2 and Apache Spark using PySpark is required.
Experience in metadata-driven data engineering pipeline design and development towards reusable patterns and frameworks is essential.
Strong data modelling knowledge and physical implementation experiences with Dimensional and / or Data Vault methodologies.
Strong knowledge and extensive experience in working in an Agile framework with CI / CD using modern DevOps / Data Ops integrated processes with YAML pipelines.
Knowledge of machine learning, MLOps, AI is desirable.
Microsoft Azure Data Engineering Associate (DP-203) certification is desirable.
