Job summary The Sefton CAMHS team at Alder Hey are looking to recruit a permanent Specialist Mental Health Practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who has an interest and experience in working with young people with mental health needs. The successful applicant will provide a substantial contribution to the clinical work of the team, and will hold full case management responsibility for their workload undertaking appropriate mental health assessment and intervention to children and young people referred to the services, as well as providing advice, support and consultation to families, carers and other professionals involved in the life of the child/young person. Main duties of the job The post holder will undertake appropriate mental health assessment of children and young people referred to CAMHS, and provide a range of appropriate, evidence based clinical interventions informed by assessed individual need. The post holder will provide support, advice and consultation to families, carers and other professionals involved in the life of the child/young person. About us The services comprise of several multi-disciplinary teams including staff from varied backgrounds, including psychology, psychiatry, social work, nursing and psychotherapy. In addition, our team members are trained in a wealth of different therapeutic interventions and approaches, making the teams truly multi-disciplinary. Sefton CAMHS - post holder will be based at Burlington House, Waterloo. Appointments are offered from Waterloo and Southport bases. Job responsibilities Maintain comprehensive clinical notes and consultation records in accordance with trust policies and procedures. Contribute to the development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of the Service Groups operational policies and procedures. Participate in MDT and multi-agency meetings. Share responsibility with other team members, as appropriate, for implementing service developments. Contribute to the management of workloads of appropriate staff within the framework of the Service Group policies and procedures. Contribute to the delivery of national and local priorities as set out in the Trusts corporate objectives. Person Specification

Qualifications, Experience and Training Essential Qualified in core profession such as Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Mental Health Practitioner, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or creative therapies Art Therapy. Intermediate or diploma level in a recognised therapeutic modality. Evidence of continuing professional development. Evidence of substantial post qualification competence, incorporating significant experience working within CAMHS at a senior level. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of providing consultation/teaching/training. Experience of working with children and young people, families and carers. Experience of clinical supervision. Experience of leading on developing, delivering and evaluating evidence based clinical care packages. Desirable Relevant post graduate qualification in Mental Health related field. Experience of providing services across traditional services. Experience of managing and/or leading on service developments. Experience of managing staff. Project Management experience. Effectively managing policy implementation and demonstrable service development work. Knowledge and Skills Essential Assertively engage young people, families and carers.
