Join the Waymo Commercialization team, and help design the future of transportation! We are looking for a passionate Staff SWE / Tech Lead who wants to help build the systems that manage and improve Waymo's core ride-hailing and fleet management systems.
We're at a thrilling juncture right now. We've created an autonomous vehicle system that could change our entire transportation system and make it safer for everyone on the roads. Our main focus at the moment is expanding Waymo One, our ride-hailing service, which uses our advanced AV technology called the Waymo Driver.
Our Autonomous Vehicles are currently on the roads in the US taking people where they need to go on a daily basis. Across all three cities, we are serving over 100,000 trips/week to Waymo One customers all while upholding our rigorous safety standards.
In this hybrid role, you will report to an Engineering Manager.
You Will
Help build and evolve one or more mission-critical commercialization tools and systems. Collaborate with Product, UX, and other engineering teams to develop systems as our needs grow and evolve. Solve hard, real-world problems such as demand planning, pickup/dropoff optimization, fleet optimization, field escalation handling, and more. You Have
BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of backend or infrastructure experience. Experience with backend programming languages. We Prefer
Experience with C++ (or a willingness to participate in professional development activities to stay current on industry knowledge). Experience working in environments including nontechnical team members. Experience with operations tooling, developer productivity, or developer tools.
