Job title: Principal Communications Design Engineer

Salary: £45,628+ dependant of experience

What you’ll be doing:

\n
    \n
  • Deliver technical input and engineering solutions in support of build activities, defect resolution and change management
  • \n
  • Understand the contractual and performance requirements for various systems, and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design, build, integration, installation and commissioning activities
  • \n
  • Produce documentation required to support the design review process, including: diagrams; technical specifications; supporting calculations; design evidence and justifications
  • \n
  • Undertake design reviews and presentations to customers
  • \n
  • Review relevant supplier documentation and ensure it is captured and recorded appropriately
  • \n
  • Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers through to system acceptance by the customer
  • \n

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

\n

  • Proven track record of system or equipment design in internal communications systems
  • \n
  • Demonstrable experience of working in different engineering lifecycle phases
  • \n
  • A relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or, Mathematics (STEM) Degree or equivalent qualification and experience within an engineering background
  • \n
  • Technical report writing skills and experienced in requirements definition and management
  • \n
\n

Desirable

  • Have or be working toward relevant Professional Registration (Ceng)
  • \n
  • Experience of system or equipment design in a range of wireless access technologies
  • \n
\n

The Platform Complex Systems Delivery team:

\n

You will be helping to define and shape the design of the Royal Navy’s next generation attack class submarine and will be working to implement internal communications technology and concepts whilst collaborating with colleagues within the Integrated Combat Systems business, wider stakeholders, suppliers and the Royal Navy. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
