Job Title: Principal Engineer- Safety Assurance (Trident)

What you’ll be doing:

\n
    \n
  • Delegated to manage activity under the DSM Key Safety Function (KSF) on behalf of the KSF Owner (KSFO)
  • \n
  • Maintaining and developing the Design Safety Statement for the Strategic Weapons System
  • \n
  • Reviewing identified hazards for impact, mitigation options and sentencing
  • \n
  • Developing Design Safety Statement Coherency Plan for SWS and SWSS systems
  • \n
  • Liaising with Trident Systems Project Team and US organisations through UK/US Technical Exchanges to understand the Joint Safety Schedule
  • \n
  • Development of Naval Authority Certification documentation in support of Certificate of Safety Explosives for OME and conventional elements of DSM
  • \n
\n

Your skills and experiences:

\n

Essential:

\n
    \n
  • Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in a STEM discipline or equivalent relevant experience
  • \n
  • Experience in working on the development and/or maintenance of complex Safety Cases
  • \n
  • Experience of integrating complex systems and/or systems engineering
  • \n
\n

Desirable:

\n
    \n
  • Knowledge of weapon systems and/or submarine design
  • \n
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders with different specialisms and navigating complex organisational constructs
  • \n
  • Knowledge of requirements management, including verification and validation planning
  • \n
\n

The Alliance Trident Integration Team:

\n

The Trident Integration Team is responsible for gathering assurance evidence that proves that the platform systems will meet these requirements in both design and the as built product. Likewise, the Strategic Weapons System (SWS) must be proven to be compatible with the Whole Boat Transversal requirements to provide assurance that the weapons system is safe to install, test and operate.

\n

The Trident integration team must work with Trident Systems Project Team and the rest of the Dreadnought Alliance to provide assurance that the SWS will be compatible with the Whole Boat requirements.

\n

The Dreadnought Alliance is formed between the Ministry of Defence’s Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce.
