A Vacancy at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The Cellular Pathology Department at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals is looking to recruit a full-time Medical Laboratory Assistant to work within the Histopathology section of the laboratory. We are seeking a motivated individual to work within a busy, but friendly department and to participate in all activities required to run an efficient, high-quality service. The Cellular Pathology department at Hemel Hempstead processes around 46,000 histology and 3,700 cytology samples a year as well as running a busy Andrology service to the local population. The post-holder will be expected to rotate through the histopathology department including roles in specimen reception and dissection, main laboratory, and referrals. The post involves both administrative and laboratory work, including the handling of human tissue and chemicals. The applicant should have a good standard of general education as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants should be able to demonstrate organisational skills, attention to detail, a basic knowledge of computers and an ability to learn new tasks. Experience is desirable but not necessary, as full training will be provided. With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.
