£28,530-£31,114 per annum, dependent on experience, inc RRP We are currently recruiting two full time Nursing Associates to join the Early Days in Custody team at HMP Elmley. Within this role you will contribute to the health and wellbeing of patients and service users across all health and care settings. As a Nursing Associate, you will deliver high quality, personalized, safe, compassionate care in the best interest of people. You will be equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours required across the fields of nursing, providing holistic care and support for patients. You will work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing. You will recognise and work within the limits of your competence, adhering to a nationally recognised code of conduct and being registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). What will you be doing? Support qualified staff in all activities relating to the delivery of high-quality patient centred care. Work and act as a key member of the team, supporting each patient in achievement of their planned outcomes. Set up and support clinics for patients. Undertake an extended role e.g. offender-focused health promotion activities and programmes. Assist patients with all activities of daily living (eating and drinking, movement, physical comfort, personal hygiene and use of toilet facilities). Communicate effectively with patients and the multi-disciplinary team. Participate in planning and liaison activities for patients. Support patients in change due to admission, discharge, death or personal loss and in adapting to their new environment. Assist in the general running of the department by undertaking housekeeping and clerical duties as appropriate. Participate in appraisal and training of self to develop a personal development plan and strive to achieve the set objectives. Attend staff meetings, updates and mandatory training as required. Work closely with Management to ensure that the Prison Health Agenda is supported at all levels in the Practice. Actively engage with offenders in the provision of holistic, needs-led care which takes into account the physical, psychological, emotional, social and spiritual needs of individuals and groups. Demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities for all people, responding to the needs of people sensitively with regard for age, culture, race, gender, ethnicity, religion and disability, especially regarding privacy and dignity. Demonstrate knowledge of professional boundaries and how to apply this to working with patients, offenders and others. Understand the need for promoting health & well-being and the delivery of health promotion activities and programmes (including self-help programmes) in support of a registered nurse. Contribute appropriately to risk assessment and individualised care planning. What do you need? Registered Nursing Associate or on the NMC register Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification English and Mathematics basic qualifications (e.g. GCSE at Grade C or above, new GCSE grade 4-9 in Maths and English Language or evidence of Level 2 in Functional skills for numeracy and literacy) What next?
