We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Band 4 Therapy Assistant to work in the MSK Physiotherapy Outpatient Service. The post is full time, 37.5 hours a week, and is based at the Southend hospital site but will include the need to cover clinics held in off-site clinics. The Southend Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy Outpatient Service manages a diverse caseload of MSK conditions and includes both surgical and non-surgical referrals. The Band 4 Therapy Assistant is a pivotal role in this service, providing assistance to the qualified Therapists, organising and delivering group therapy sessions and managing their own delegated caseload. The team fosters a supportive environment that seeks to develop support workers and provide them with the skills to deliver holistic patient centred care. Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be required to work with patients who are referred to the outpatient physiotherapy service with a variety of different presentations that require therapeutic support. Therapists and support workers play a vital role in maintaining and improving the patients physical and mental wellbeing whilst recovery takes place. The role will involve working with patients in group and one to one sessions taking responsibility for a caseload, performing timely assessment, planning management and providing feedback to qualified staff. You will be joining a team who provide high quality patient focused care and will be required to work within a busy environment alongside other healthcare professionals. Training for this role will be provided to support your development through supervision, competency training and in service training. Job responsibilities
Key responsibilities include: Treat own caseload of patients in the MSK Outpatient Physiotherapy setting; according to set treatment protocols, monitor progression, and make alterations to patients treatment programmes as and when required. Use clinical reasoning to utilise a range of assessment and treatment skills to formulate treatment programmes. Work unsupervised regularly and report back progress or change from expected findings to a qualified therapist. Organise and deliver outpatient classes/group sessions. Person Specification
Qualifications
5 GCSE's or Equivalent Level 3 qualification in relevant subject Computer literate with MS Office Knowledge & Experience
Experience working with patients or clients Experience working in therapy/care Knowledge and understanding of rehabilitation Experience of working in a hospital or care environment Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to problem solve Able to work in a high pressure environment Disclosure and Barring Service Check
