We are seeking enthusiastic, hardworking dental nurses to join the Sandwell Community Dental Nursing Team. The working days are: Monday & Tuesday - Support Brace Street clinic; Thursday - Supporting Oldbury clinic; Friday - Alternate weeks supporting Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital and Walsall Manor Hospital comp care lists (potential for early start and late finishes). To work flexibly within a dental team providing high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across localities within the Dental Service, based at Community Dental Services (CDS), including Mobile Clinics and/or additional external sites as required Birmingham Dental Hospital (BDH). Main duties of the job

Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service and manage patients with complex dental, social and medical needs. Liaise with the Tutor Dental Nurses, Dental Nurse Manager and other Senior Dental Nurses to ensure correct training needs are met for staff and apprentice dental nurses within the service. Stock control/rotation and the ordering of dental consumables as required from appropriate suppliers. Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment and dispose of clinical waste including bodily fluids. In conjunction with the Senior Dental Nurse be responsible for ensuring high standards of Infection Prevention & Control and Decontamination processes. Maintain patient confidentiality; support the management of concerns/complaints and implementation of audit outcomes. Report, liaise and prioritise defective equipment to the Estates Department. Prepare clinical environments including notes, x-rays, models and relevant equipment and clinical materials. Provide specialist pre and post operative advice and oral health education to patients. Support departmental inductions in the specialty for all new staff and students of varying grades within the specialty. In conjunction with the Senior Dental Nurse ensure that all daily mandatory checks are carried out and recorded including managing the clinical environment. Education

Professional Registration with General Dental Council. Hold a post-registration qualification certificate or equivalent, and provide evidence of continual professional development, where relevant. Recognised Teaching Qualification at Level 3 or equivalent. Experience

Significant experience in a wide range of dentistry. Significant evidence of continued professional development. Demonstrate experience of supporting undergraduates and post-registration staff to deliver high quality patient care and achieve their required educational standards. Evidence service quality improvement bringing about improved patient outcomes. Evidence informal and formal assessment experience in an educational or healthcare environment. Qualifications and Training

A Dental Nurse qualification that enables registration with the General Dental Council i.e. NVQ Level 3, Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing or Dental Nursing National Certificate in Dental Nursing / Gained entry onto GDC register via grand parenting (pre-2008). Registered with the General Dental Council. Hold a post-registration qualification certificate or equivalent, and provide evidence of continual professional development, where relevant. Recognised Teaching Qualification at Level 3 or equivalent. Skills/knowledge
