The post holder will utilise skills of clinical expertise, leadership, education, and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers, and staff. The post holder will provide advice, support, and information and will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure a co-ordinated quality service. The post holder will be actively involved in ensuring a high-quality safe service for patient and staff leading on audit and research as appropriate. The skills and quality for this role also include: Clinical leadership and decision-making skills. Aptitude for development of clinical practice and quality. Ability to design and deliver teaching effectively to small and large groups. Ability to negotiate effectively with different disciplines and all grades of staff. Ability to manage own time and prioritise effectively. Ability to work within a team and on own initiative. IT proficient. Sufficient experience in a range of settings including elderly care in an acute setting as Band 6/7. Evidence of overseeing a ward/team on a regular basis. Experience of implementing a change in practice. To provide support to the Senior Sister in effectively leading and managing the ward. Participate in all ward activities as an effective team member, supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse taking the responsibility for the leadership of a team of staff. To assess care needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. To teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, and act as a role model to junior staff, undertaking performance management as required. To take responsibility and accountability for a group of patients and the whole ward for the duration of the shift.
