Main duties of the job
Main Duties
To work flexibly within a dental team providing high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across localities within the integrated Dental Service [BDH, CDS and mobile clinics and/or additional external sites] as required to be the conduit for service-wide communication for certain specialities or a locality. This includes attendance at meetings on behalf of the Dental Matron. Responsible for the ordering of equipment and stock ensuring efficient control of levels within one locality or certain specialities by vetting all orders and maintaining commitment accounting system. Support the Clinical Leads, Divisional Director of Nursing and Therapies, Heads of Service and Dental Matron in the financial management of the service. Participate in the management and improvement of an integrated Dental Service to include the development of policies and protocols as appropriate. Manage Dental Nurses and support staff at all grades including staff appraisal and development and identification of training needs. Co-ordinate post qualification training of Dental support staff.

Qualifications/Training
Essential
Dental Nurse Qualification which is able to be registered with the GDC. Registered with the GDC. Possess a management and/or supervisory qualification. Evidence of continued professional development.
Experience
Essential
Extensive post qualification experience. Significant Management experience. Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams. Evidence of working on own initiative, development of projects etc.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
Good organisational and time management skills. Ability to lead and work as part of a team. Ability to plan and co-ordinate a number of complex activities.
