Applications for HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientists are now invited to the post of Deputy Training Lead within the Haematology Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Heartlands Hospital. As an integral part of the leadership team, you will implement, deliver, and develop first-class training to ensure the competency and maintenance of learning throughout the department. As our colleagues look to you for knowledge, guidance, and support, you will live and breathe our values to ensure they are secure in the delivery of their duties and comfortable discussing any requirements or concerns they may have. Main Duties of the Job

Due to the nature of this role, it is essential that you have an understanding of specialist healthcare science activities acquired through additional training or knowledge to postgraduate level or equivalent e.g., Post registration specialist competency portfolio. Evidence of continuing professional development in accordance with HCPC guidelines will be requested at the interview stage, so ensure to bring this along with you. You will support the Training leads with training activities, inductions, and portfolio work. There are 2 posts available, one based at QEH and one based at BHH, but there will be a future requirement to work across all sites that are part of UHB. Qualifications

BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or equivalent academic achievement that is ratified by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS). State registration with Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC). Understanding of specialist healthcare science activities acquired through additional training or knowledge to postgraduate level or equivalent e.g., Post registration specialist competency portfolio. Evidence of continuing professional development and proficiency in accordance with HCPC guidelines. Experience

Experience of working in clinical laboratories commensurate with the laboratory position. Experience of laboratory techniques and automation. Experience of dealing with suppliers, clinical and support staff, the public, or customer care. A working knowledge of: Biomedical Science theory and practice (Haematology, Transfusion, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Cellular Pathology). Quality control and assurance practices. Laboratory health and safety. HCPC and IBMS professional standards, ethics, and proficiencies. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
