We have an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic, self-motivated, and experienced Speech and Language Therapists to join our band 6 rotations at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The posts include four rotations across the specialty areas of Neurology & Stroke, Critical Care, Health Services for Elderly People, and outlier wards, allowing the post holder to gain skills across a number of clinical specialties. Main Duties of the Job
You will be joining a team of 11.2 SLTs and will be based within different interdisciplinary teams during each rotation. You will be well supported with opportunities for peer support and access to joint working with clinical leads in each area, and you will be offered opportunities for personal and professional development. The Speech and Language Therapy team runs both videofluoroscopy and FEES services, which you will have an opportunity to participate in. Education & Professional Qualifications
Degree/graduate diploma or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration as a speech and language therapist Certificated post graduate courses or equivalent in-house training in clinical specialty areas Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists Membership of an RCSLT Clinical Excellence Network (CEN) Royal Free World Class Values
Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values Experience
Post graduate work experience as an SLT with an adult acquired population within the acute hospital setting Experience of working in an MDT Practiced as an SLT at Band 5 or above RCSLT Dysphagia Competent Knowledge and experience of a range of approaches for the management of speech/swallowing/language and cognitive communication deficits Experience of utilizing and referring patients for instrumental swallow assessment Good understanding of relevant RCSLT and wider clinical guidelines relevant to rotations Presenting to groups Supervision of B5 SLTs, assistants, and/or students Active participation in an audit or project work Evidence of CPD Skills
Evidence of sound clinical knowledge and well-established assessment and intervention and management skills for speech/swallow/communication Able to manage clinical caseload and prioritize effectively Ability to work effectively within different teams both multi and uni-disciplinary Ability to manage own time & meet deadlines Ability to critically evaluate current research & apply to own practice Ability to recognize unacceptable behavior and act on this appropriately Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and electronic notes Disclosure and Barring Service Check
