We have created a brand-NEW POST within our pharmacy trials team here at University Hospitals Birmingham (Queen Elizabeth Site) to lead on our non-cancer trial portfolio working closely with our non-cancer Trials Pharmacist and the rest of the trials dispensary team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced pharmacy technician to ensure the review, smooth setup, and running of this subset of trials. You will have a close working relationship with the research teams, R&D, and trial sponsors. You'll have access to learning, development, and training opportunities to allow you to acquire the skills and knowledge to manage a service and deliver the best possible pharmacy trials service for our patients and service users. The post holder will: be responsible for the smooth day-to-day management of the non-cancer trials pharmacy service from our dedicated trials pharmacy providing a safe, efficient, and timely service to our service users. have a keen eye for detail and the technical knowledge of medicines management to review trial documents to allow successful review, setup, and delivery of our investigational medicinal products. have the ability to work autonomously and within a team with excellent communication skills. manage their time effectively and be able to act as a team leader, provide direction, and motivate others within the team. Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 (Pharmacy Services) plus accredited underpinning knowledge BTEC/City & Guilds (in Pharmaceutical Science) or equivalent. Professional Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). NVQ level 4 in management or equivalent knowledge and experience. Evidence of continued Professional Development. Specialist formal training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Professional Registration with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. Experience

Broad, up-to-date, and in-depth knowledge of issues relating to clinical trials including knowledge of ICHGCP guidelines and Clinical Trials Legislation. High level knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), MHRA licensing requirements, COSHH. Demonstrates responsibility for complying with agreed personal development programme to meet set knowledge and competencies. Knowledge of HR policies and procedures. Minimum 6 years post-qualification pharmacy experience. Providing specialist technical advice to others i.e. medicines handling and labelling requirements. Working knowledge of a broad range of medicines and their safety issues. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates an understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession. Demonstrates the ability to handle safely and competently pharmaceutical equipment and medicines used in the dispensing process. Contribution to the education of other staff. Managerial experience implementing HR policies and procedures. Additional Criteria

Understanding of clinical governance and its implications for service including quality and audits. Able to manage sickness absence in accordance with Attendance Management Policy. Good understanding of Cancer Services. Good patient counselling skills. Excellent aseptic technique. Willing to work cross-site, as required.
