Some fantastic opportunities have arisen for experienced Band 6/7 Occupational Therapists to join a dynamic team in West Sussex. These roles offer a competitive rate of £25-26 per hour, with both full-time and part-time options available. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to start immediately.

There are roles available across three different teams: Musculoskeletal (MSK) Therapy Frailty Acute Medicine

Key Responsibilities for Each Specialism: Musculoskeletal (MSK) Occupational Therapy:

The MSK OT role involves working with patients suffering from a range of musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, back pain, and soft tissue injuries. The successful candidate will assess patients' functional abilities, design and implement rehabilitation programs to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore function. Strong emphasis will be placed on developing individual treatment plans, providing education on posture and ergonomics, and supporting patients with long-term management of their conditions. This role will also involve working closely with physiotherapists and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for patients.

Frailty Occupational Therapy:

In the frailty OT role, the focus will be on working with older adults or patients with multi-morbidities to assess and manage their physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being. The role will include assessing mobility, strength, and functional abilities in order to promote independence and safety in daily activities. Frailty OTs will work on home assessments and adaptations, advising on assistive equipment, and supporting the implementation of rehabilitation strategies to prevent falls and hospital readmissions. Key responsibilities will also include liaising with family members and caregivers to ensure holistic care planning and discharge planning.

Acute Medicine Occupational Therapy:

Acute Medicine OTs will be working within fast-paced settings, helping patients recover from acute illness, surgery, or injury. This role involves assessing and treating patients who require immediate intervention to regain their functional independence after being admitted to the hospital. Key responsibilities include performing thorough assessments of physical, cognitive, and psychological function, providing interventions to facilitate early discharge, and recommending rehabilitation programs for post-hospital care. The role will require collaboration with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and social workers, to ensure a smooth transition from hospital to home and continued patient support. Critical to this role is managing complex cases involving patients with multiple health conditions and ensuring comprehensive discharge plans are in place to reduce hospital readmissions.

Additional Responsibilities Across All Specialisms:

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (MDT) to ensure comprehensive care and rehabilitation. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with professional standards. Providing advice and education to patients, caregivers, and staff on relevant conditions, treatments, and self-management strategies. Developing, reviewing, and updating care plans as necessary based on patient progress and clinical outcomes. Supporting the ongoing development of services and departmental policies related to occupational therapy interventions.

Requirements:

HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist. Proven experience in MSK, frailty, or acute medicine settings. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team. A proactive, patient-focused approach to care. Ability to manage a varied caseload and work under pressure in fast-paced environments.

These roles offer an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on patient care in a supportive and professional environment. The successful candidates will be part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary team committed to providing exceptional care.

The roles are available for immediate start, and both full-time and part-time applications are encouraged.
