Job Summary An exciting opportunity has come up at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to join a developing hand therapy team. The post is permanent and full time, although part time hours will be considered for a suitable candidate. The role requires specialist knowledge to assess and treat a wide variety of hand pathologies following acute trauma and elective surgery from the Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic services within the Trust. Patients are also referred from First Contact Practitioners and GPs. Applicants must have prior experience within hand therapy. We welcome applications from existing Band 7 clinicians and Band 6 clinicians looking to develop their role. Main Duties of the Job To provide a high standard hand therapy service to patients with hand and wrist conditions. To work as part of a specialist multidisciplinary Hand team. To cover specialist out-patient clinics alongside Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery Consultants as well as supporting the hand therapy team. To undertake advanced hand therapy assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients who have diverse presentations and complex hand and wrist conditions. To hold responsibility for own caseload. To undertake clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. To be responsible for service development within the hand therapy team. To ensure knowledge and treatment interventions are current and evidence-based. Experience Essential Significant post-graduate experience. Recent experience in the NHS. Significant experience at Band 6 or equivalent in working with MSK conditions. Experience working at Band 6/equivalent with hand conditions including post-surgical conditions and trauma. Experience of supervising/appraising therapy staff. Experience of student supervision. Desirable Experience of both static and dynamic thermoplastic splinting. Skills Essential Good skills in core areas of Hand therapy practice. Desirable Good skills in thermoplastic splinting. Knowledge Desirable Attendance on external postgraduate courses relevant to the specialist field. Possession of or, working towards MSc or equivalent EG. BAHT. Member of SIG. Qualifications Essential Degree in Physiotherapy Studies/Degree in Occupational Studies or equivalent. HCPC registered. Desirable Working towards or in possession of evidence of relevant postgraduate training/BAHT courses.
