An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly qualified and enthusiastic Senior Physiotherapist to join our Physiotherapy Team in a newly created Respiratory Clinical Educator role. This unique position will focus on delivering physiotherapy respiratory education & training within the Physiotherapy Department at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

QEHB houses Europe's largest co-located intensive care unit, providing specialist patient care across a range of clinical specialities, including specialist surgery, major trauma & burns, neurosciences & cardiothoracic. The hospital has two Respiratory Support Units (RSU) that provide enhanced respiratory care, including physiotherapy-led Non-Invasive Ventilation.

You will support, develop & evaluate the delivery of physiotherapy respiratory competency training, including high-fidelity simulation, across ICU & ward environments, as well as respiratory update training for on-call staff.

You will work in collaboration with Physiotherapy Leads, Consultant & Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists, with a balance of clinical work in ICU, RSUs & other relevant clinical ward areas, providing teaching & support for staff working in these areas, or in an on-call capacity.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills, advanced respiratory expertise, & a passion for teaching, who is eager to expand their experience in this specialised area.

The Physiotherapy Department supports CPD & personal development. The post holder will work as a clinical expert in the area of respiratory Physiotherapy, with a job plan to include both clinical, teaching & non-clinical elements. Your work environments would include ICU, respiratory support unit, and other speciality ward areas that deliver respiratory care, including neurosciences and specialist surgery wards.

Key skills for this post include confidence in communication, strong leadership, collaborative working with peers, a passion for teaching and a personal desire to develop. You must be able to demonstrate excellent time management skills day to day, as well as a proactive approach to operational planning of respiratory competency training, staff induction and update training.

Applicants should have significant clinical experience managing both acute and chronic respiratory conditions working in both critical care and acute ward environments. NIV experience and simulation training experience is desirable (training provided if required).

There will be an expectation for active participation in service evaluation and quality improvement projects.

The post-holder will be expected to have an awareness of current evidence in respiratory physiotherapy and its application to clinical practice, using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
