Beechlydene and Ashdown Wards have a 12 month secondment role as a Senior Practitioner. This is to cover maternity leave.

This post creates an opportunity for clinical leadership, working across two wards Beechlydene, a 21 bedded mixed gender acute inpatient ward and Ashdown, a 6 bedded male PICU inpatient ward. The role involves training and supervision, completing audits, delivering QI projects and ensuring compliance with best practice. The post holder will take the lead in Patient Safety Incident Response Framework. The senior practitioner will work collaboratively with both ward managers to play an active role in promoting and supporting quality care, and taking a clinical lead on the ward.

The post holder will work closely with the Modern Matron for Beechlydene and Ashdown, alongside the Senior Practitioner of Amblescroft North and South, to embed learning and change across Fountain Way site. They will also be part of the multi-disciplinary team and wider leadership team of the hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work across Beechlydene Ward and Ashdown Ward, ensuring consistency and oversight in the delivery of clinical training and supervision, particularly around physical health, risk management and sexual safety.

Key responsibilities:

Deliver bite size training on wards. Develop a network of leads across all clinical wards and teams. Overseeing induction sessions as needed. Contribute to regular audits, ensuring compliance with Trust expectations. Obtain data and prepare reports for Locality Quality and Standards and Locality Physical Health Group. Attend Trustwide meetings representing the Locality. Deliver Quality Improvement Projects, together with QI lead. Work closely with MDT developing care pathways and move on plans. Engage with National Forums as appropriate to ensure that the wards are in line with Best Practice. Provide management and/or clinical supervision to leads in this clinical area. Development of Standard Operating Procedures in line with contract requirements. Maintain links with Trust Lead to ensure compliance. Maintenance of Continued Professional Development in order to maintain and develop skills to deliver best patient care. PSIRF.
