A Vacancy at Barking Havering and Redbridge Univ Hospitals NHS Trust.

Are you ready for a new challenge and interested in supporting the pre-registration AHP workforce? Then this is the job for you!

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Therapies Pre-registration Education Lead to lead on the coordination, delivery and reporting of effective Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietetic and Speech and Language Therapy pre-registration student education and training at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

As an HCPC registered AHP with relevant NHS experience, you will be responsible for the provision of a high-quality learning experience for pre-registration learners. With comprehensive experience of developing and delivering education, and supporting students in a Clinical Educator role, you will work collaboratively with MDT colleagues and stakeholders to develop transformational delivery of AHP student education.

The post holder will be able to work independently, set priorities, manage time effectively, and possess strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills.

To facilitate the education needs of pre-registrant learners within the Trust and practice settings, the individual will be responsible for operational delivery and coordination of learning experiences, placements, on-site support, and Higher Education Institute (HEI) liaison. They will ensure that the registered workforce is supported to receive learners through student allocation.

The role will be responsible for maximizing placement opportunities, using data gained from regular audits, alongside managing the commissioned numbers of therapy students undertaking structured pre-registration placements in the Trust. The role will provide cross-functional cover and support for the clinical educators within Therapies.

The individual will work in partnership with the Programme Manager: Therapies Workforce to develop internal processes to manage the North East London and NHS England directives linked to Therapies clinical placement, including fair share, and support directives from BHRUT Therapy management that support and provide guidance linked to the strategic education perspective.

The individual will work closely with Therapy Management to operationalize the service, meet KPIs, objectives, and develop business and contractual processes conforming to our governance standards.

We’re an organization that is getting better and better. We were the most improved Trust in England for A&E performance in 2023/24; we’re no longer in special measures; and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, has been named the top CEO by the Health Service Journal. Our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and that our patients are happy with.

Many of our 8,000 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve, and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. More than 400 of them are on apprenticeship programmes, and we’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.

We operate from two main sites - King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London – more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023.

Patients across north east London are benefitting from two new state-of-the-art theatres at KGH, and our Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Community Hospital and St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub will significantly increase the number of scans that can be carried out.

We’re looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It’ll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
