As Clinical Academic Lead, you will be responsible for supporting the Head of School and the Professor of Nursing. You will lead and line manage a small team as part of the Integrated Clinical Academic delivery programme, engaged in delivering Clinical Academic Education across UHB. This could be an exciting secondment opportunity if you are interested in Clinical Academic Careers. The team is embedded in the University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) School of Nursing, AHPs, and Midwifery and delivers the NHSE/National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) programmes for aspirant NMAHPPS clinical academics. You will support practitioners including NMAHPPSs to deliver the best and most effective care for the people we serve. You will create a culture that develops research leaders and enhances UHB's national and international reputation for clinical excellence through the discovery and application of evidence-based practice and innovation informed by research. You will help make research every clinician NMAHPPS's business. You will collaborate with Birmingham Health Partners, University of Birmingham, and Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospitals, along with other key partners in the Birmingham and West Midlands health economy, NHS England Workforce, Training and Education, and funding bodies such as NIHR. Main duties of the job

Ensure the Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) programme of work is aligned with service and organisational need and congruent with priorities. Ensure the ICA programme delivers contractual agreements and obligations (e.g., NIHR commission programmes). Work with local Higher Education Institutions to create an infrastructure and governance framework for undergraduate/postgraduate NMAHPPS research, QIP, and/or audit projects involving highly complex negotiation skills. Regularly write and present reports on the progress of UHB NMAHPPS research achievements. Assist in developing and implementing long-term, strategic Trust, professional, and service-level objectives in line with UHB research priorities. Take responsibility for the ongoing educational design, delivery, and evaluation of contracted clinical academic programmes. Play a significant role in designing and operationalising the infrastructure to guide and coach NMAHPPS to meet the research and innovation components of their roles. Contribute to the design and/or coordination and/or delivery of programmes that build the research capability and capacity of NMAHPPS to successfully apply for training fellowships and other research awards. Qualifications

NMC Registered Nurse or Midwife/ HCPC Registered professional. Holds or is currently undertaking a doctoral qualification (e.g., PhD or Professional Doctorate). Postgraduate education or leadership/management qualification or completion of programme. Experience

Extensive leadership experience (academic and/or NHS experience). Management and leadership knowledge, skills, and experience. Experience of writing reports, briefings, peer-reviewed academic papers, and conference presentations. Project, grant, and/or programme management experience. Experience of developing papers and supporting formal sub-committees. Additional Criteria

Ability to work flexibly and, where necessary, outside of core working hours. Willingness to travel/work across all Trust sites/services associated with the Trust and travel outside of the Trust as a representative of the organisation within the UK. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
