The post holder will support the specialist pharmacist prescriber roles already established in the AWP Specialised Services and proactively seek opportunities to expand the pharmacy workforce in these areas.
The postholder will also become an integral member of the senior pharmacy team, supporting the Chief Pharmacist to set the strategic direction of both medicines optimisation in the organisation and the pharmacy services.
The postholder will also support with education and training of both the AWP Pharmacy and wider pharmacy workforce, as well as other healthcare professionals, within AWP and the local Integrated Care Systems.
The base for this post can be flexible across the geography of the Trust; however, there will be a need to attend meetings and visit clinical sites on a regular basis. The post includes on-call and some weekend and bank holiday working.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to the strategic planning of the pharmacy service and implementation of service objectives. Lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of clinical pharmacy services across the Trust. Develop a competent, motivated, and versatile clinical pharmacy workforce across the service, managed within existing budget and underpinned by technology, robust governance, and risk management. Work with the Chief Pharmacist, Deputy Chief Pharmacist, and other Clinical Lead Pharmacists to ensure strategic plans are delivered and resources are utilized safely, efficiently, and effectively. Support Trust leadership groups with all aspects and issues relating to medicines optimisation, including CQC, GPhC, NICE, and NHS England. Manage the Locality Lead Pharmacists and Specialist Pharmacists working in SSC to deliver clinical services and medicines optimisation, including audit and monitoring. Lead on the delivery and development of robust and progressive medicines optimisation. Work with commissioners and the multi-disciplinary team on service arrangements, including shared care and new services. Provide cover for the other Clinical Lead Pharmacists in their absence. Deputise as appropriate for the Deputy or Chief Pharmacist in his/her absence.

The AWP pharmacy service employs approximately 60 staff. There are two technician-led dispensaries in the Trust (one in Bristol, and one in Calne, Wiltshire), and clinical pharmacy teams embedded in the locality ward/community team bases.
